Powergrade For Davinci Resolve

In November 2019, I bought the BMPCC 6K to supplement the ARRI Alexa that I usually shoot with. The idea was to have a smaller and lighter camera that could be mounted on a gimbal.

After receiving the camera, I began analyzing the sensor using the same techniques I had previously used to analyze the Alexa sensor and various film stocks. I then used this data to build a custom 3×3 matrix that accurately matched the two cameras. This is the same method that high-end post offices use to match digital cameras. It offers many benefits over using a LUT. To find out why, read the creation process below.

PowerGrades, post-production LUTs, and in-camera LUTs have now been updated to be fully compatible with Gen5. To use Gen5 PowerGrades, you need Resolve 17.2. In-camera LUTs require Blackmagic Camera Update 7.3. This update also makes the P6K2Alexa fully compatible with the P6K Pro._x005F_x000B_The update also includes two new ARRI LogC to Rec709 LUTs. These new LUTs have been modified to have more film saturation and were derived from my research into film emulation. They allow for deeper, richer colors while avoiding over-saturation.
